A South Carolina man and his pot-bellied pig made headlines the other day when the pig (Leroy) escaped from his home in Columbia. Apparently, this is the fourth time that the pig has escaped and he time he has ended up at Brennen Elementary School, playing with the school children.
While the pig did not cause any harm to anyone, this was not enough to stop authorities from taking the pig in to custody. The owner, Mcgregor Wallace, was cited for owning a pig within city limits and possessing a “fugitive pig.” On top of that, Wallace was also forced to pay a $3000 fine.
What makes this particular story interesting is that Wallace told The State that he purchased the pig as an emotional support pet, adding that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.
We have some questions here at Instant ESA. How did he certify his pet pig? Who certified Leroy? Does Mr. Wallace have an emotional support animal letter?
Wallace alleged in a Facebook post published Friday that Leroy was being kept “in a horrific atmosphere” unsuitable for a pet pig. So Mr. Wallace’s pig was taken from him and he has still not gotten him back!
This saddens us and we wish we could help help reunite Mr. Wallace with his pig. We will be reaching out to him in the future. If he needs it, we will give him the proper documentation he needs!
Mr. Wallace is scheduled to appear in court in October.
