Emotional support animals are all the rage today. Anywhere you go there is a decent chance that you will run into someone with an emotional support animal. Society has long relied upon the love and comfort of animals as a form of emotional support.
However, it was only until these last couple of years, where we have seen a trend take shape where people began making this bond official.
But with any trend comes two sides, meaning those supporting it and those who oppose it. Those who oppose the widespread certification of emotional support animals do have some valid points.
Sometimes it can seem like things are getting out of hand, especially when you see the media reporting on some of the non-traditional animals that are being certified. It doesn’t help things at all when it appears as if the media itself has it’s own biased agenda. There is no question that this seems to be the case.
This is clearly evident in how the news reports on emotional support animals. Whether it be one isolated incident of a dog attacking someone on a plane or the constant hints about “taking emotional support too far“, it’s loud and clear where the media stands on the issue. We have already given our best guess as to why that is.
For right now, we simply want to focus on the truth about emotional support animals.
The truth about emotional support animals is very simple.
Emotional support animals are animals that provide love and comfort to those who suffer from mental and emotional hardships. Honestly, emotional support animals make life better for their owners 100% of the time. It might sound cliché but love truly is the best medicine.
And in a time when people are suffering from ailments such as depression, anxiety, and loneliness more than ever, maybe it’s time we turned to other alternatives.
The love and support from emotional support animals is one of those alternatives.
We are not suggesting that everyone should get an emotional support animal. Not at all. That is one of the many misunderstandings that persist to this day. It’s always how people are abusing this “emotional support animal ” label where they certify their pet just because they want to take them with them everywhere they go. Everyone needs to understand that this exists with anything. There is always going to be a subset of a population who tries to work the system.
But if you are suffering from any mental or emotional hardships, we want you to know that you have a choice. You do not have to go to the doctor’s office and take whatever prescription pills they prescribe to you. Most importantly, you do not have to ignore your issues and suffer in silence.
You can certify your pet as an emotional support animal. Not only will you have the ongoing love and support of your pet but you will also enjoy many rights that are granted to you under Federal Law.
